Mother's Day

The kids have been making all sorts of "Mother's Day" gifts at school this past week and Lindsay has been very interested in what "Mother's Day" is all about. So we have had several discussion on when it is and what it means. However, she calls it "Mother Day" which on one hand sounds a little strange because I am so used to the standard way, but on the other hand is so cute coming from her! I woke up sick on Thursday morning this past week. This was the day that Lindsay was having a little "program" for the moms at her preschool. I barely made it out of bed to go and watch. I kept thinking that I would call someone and just ask them to bring her home from school and not worry about missing it. I made it and they sang a cute song about loving their moms. I gave Lindsay a hug and we went home. Over the next several days, as I struggled to get better I kept telling the kids not to come close to me because I was sick and I didn't want to spread it. So Lindsay kept asking...reminding me..."Why did you give me a hug after my song?". "You were sick when you hugged me." And other variations.
The kids wanted me to open the presents that they made when they brought them home from school, so some of them I did and some I told them we had to save for Sunday, the "real" day. They were sweet!
